SKINNARVIKSBERGET – HOUSING IN SOLID WOOD FOR FOLKHEM
The site, a composite context of buildings of varied character from different eras. Here, lamellhus, housing towers and town houses meet castle-like solitaires and stunning landscaped gardens. The buildings are mostly situated at various levels in a for Stockholm typical natural landscape with boulders and a untamed park spaces.
The higher street with its town houses gives a gathered impression, even as volumes and details vary along the street and ends with our proposed two new wooden houses. These villas interact with the older buildings while providing a contemporary expression and identity that gives the site a new character. The lower street extends along Skinnarviksberget with Högalidskyrkan in the fund, provides a backbone to the lower buildings. The connection to the brick volumes remaining from the 19th century on the opposite side of the urban space, with gables facing the street and with inner courtyards, is important.
The lower volumes interacta with the higher town villas in terms of materials, proportions, details and expressions. The proposal is meant to bind together the various scales, directions and levels of the site.
