Sundbyberg – Housing for Tobin Properties
On this site we propose a building that stands for itself with a clear sculpted form without a defined back. Two volumes are combined into one unit that addresses all directions.
The volume of the building helps to define three distinct streetscapes. Towards the roundabout an intimate space is created with entrances to homes and a premises. Towards the south a more open space with residential entrances, premises and opportunities for open-air café is created. With the help of a landscape with plants and ramps this location is connected with the planned Rosentorget square, which becomes the site’s most urban and bustling space. By planning facilities with different characters in all directions, the building can become a hub in the region.
We propose a sculptural volume with light materials, a bright, rough plastered facade with the entrance and balcony niches and window sections in bright wood. The rough plastered facade and the size of windows and balcony niches provide a well-defined volume. The slightly recessed ground floor is in a smooth cast in place concrete with large windows, doors and niches of wood.
